Is Health and Wellness Coaching like Personal Training or Athletic Training?
No it's not. Although I am an expert in Health science, (being a massage therapist for 11 years and a personal trainer for 7) I don't direct your behavior. And we won't focus on things you're doing wrong or incorrectly. Instead we'll focus on identifying opportunities for development and reaching your goals based on your strengths and capabilities.
Is it like mentoring?
A mentor provides wisdom and guidance based on their own experience. They may advise, counsel, and coach. This coaching process does not focus on advising, mentoring or counseling. It focuses instead on individuals, groups and teams setting and reaching your own objectives. You're in the driver seat, learning how to take control of your life...
Is it training?
There's no structure or curriculum and I don't set the objectives, you do. Together we'll develop short-term strategies you choose that align with your long-term goals.
Is this the same as consulting?
My expertise is in health & wellness but I will not diagnose problems or prescribe solutions. Developing new behaviors works best if you the individual or team generate your own solutions with your coach facilitating the process. I will help you brainstorm solutions that you actually want to do and fit best into your life. By taking control in this way you develop the confidence that you are the master of your ship...
Is it therapy?
Just the massage. Therapy deals with healing pain, dysfunction and conflict within an individual or relationships.
The primary focus of coaching is on creating actionable strategies for achieving specific goals in your work or personal life. The emphasis in a coaching relationship are on action, accountability, and follow thru.
So you're just teaching me how to be healthy?
Educators such as DR's, nutritionists personal trainers etc... encourage healthy lifestyles by educating you about behaviors that promote health living, prevent diseases and even stave off death (eat better, stress less, and get more physical activity).
Although I may provide education, it is combined with coaching in a thoughtful way that enables clients the freedom to choose various options, making the behavior change process much more enjoyable and likely to maintain.
How does your money back guarantee work?
If you're successful I'm successful. Research has shown it usually takes 3 to 6 months with a minimum of 4 sessions to start developing new behaviors. You'll have weekly and monthly goals to help re-wire your brain and get you there. If at the end of a minimum of 4 sessions within a 3 month time frame none of your goals have been met I will happily provide you with a full refund and another 4 sessions completely free.
